Jake and his XP Falcon with an ICE Ignition Ford Windsor 302 Kit

Jake contacted us after experiencing issues with his existing ignition system on his Ford XP Flacon with a 302 Windsor. After discussing Jake’s engine specifications and intended vehicle use we recommended the ICE Ignition Ford Windsor 302 7AMP 1STEP Kit. The kit includes:
- The ICE 7051MV Controller with
- 16 pre-programmed timing curves.
- A vacuum advance sensor
- Push-Button Adjustable Rev Limiter for over-rev protection
- A Large Cap Distributor with a Cast Iron Gear
- ICE Ignition 9FOR809 9 mm finished leads
- ICE Ignition 4200 Pro Series Coil
- 2 Metre wiring harness

Jake installed the new ignition system and contacted us to get advice on the right the settings. He supplied us with the Camshaft Duration @ 50 thou and the engine’s static compression ratio. This was enough to establish an initial timing and timing advance curve selection. We recommended Jake use Curve 2 which applies 19 degrees advance by 3,800 RPM. Given this is a small block high compression engine a slower advance curve is a great starting point.

The next step is for Jake to run his car on a chassis dyno which will confirm the optimal settings for his engine combination. Alternatively, he could take it for a series of test runs and adjust timing until he finds the optimal advance curve.
